About Me

My primary areas of interest are political theory, comparative political thought, critical socio-legal studies, and South Asian politics. I am currently an Associate Professor in Jindal Global Law School where I teach introductory social science courses and more specialised courses on Postcolonial Theory to undergraduate students.
I completed my doctoral studies in Politics and International Studies at the University of Cambridge. My dissertation explored the itineraries of rights and liberalism in non-Western contexts with a particular focus on minority rights in India. I use ethnographic methods to explore the construction of vernacular rights claims by a movement for gender justice led by Muslim women in contemporary India.
I have published in prominent peer-reviewed journals such as Law and Social Inquiry, Ethnicities, Feminist Theory, Legal Pluralism and Critical Social Analysis, and Asian Journal of Law and Society.
At the University of Cambridge, I have tutored for several Political Theory papers including the paper on Political Philosophy and the History of Political Thought since 1890 and The Modern State and its Alternatives. I have also taught International Relations theory at the Oxford summer school. I studied for a Masters in South Asian Studies at the School of Oriental and African Studies with a focus on Politics, Law, and Anthropology. I studied English Literature, History, and Philosophy as an undergraduate.
I am interested in both academic and policy related research positions that require expertise in human rights, minority rights, gender, and sexuality. My regional expertise is in South Asia. I have qualitative research skills of interviewing and conducting ethnographic research.
