About Me

I create compelling content that informs, provokes thought and positive change, and even entertains, when appropriate. ‘The Word Surgeon’ and ‘The Pithy Pen’ are my monikers, and I’ve assumed various roles:
– Senior Communications Specialist
– Real Estate Marketer and Copywriter
– Lifestyle Magazine Editor/Writer
– Minex and Drilling Editor/Correspondent
– Educational Syllabus Editing Pundit
– and all-round communicator.

As Senior Communications Specialist at Boart Longyear – the world’s leading provider of drilling services, drilling equipment and performance tooling for mining and drilling companies since 1890, I work alongside the Global Head of Investor Relations to plan and create timely communications. I’m proud to have initiated 2023’s ‘Boart Longyear Women’ campaign showcasing one incredible woman and her impact to the business each week, which aligns with the Company’s ’15 x 25’ DEI commitment to recruit and retain a minimum percentage of 15% women to our drilling services workforce by end of year, 2025.

I’m passionate about property. Realtor clients enlist me to showcase their spectacular properties, particularly vineyard estates across California’s enviable Sonoma, Napa and Marin counties; ski-centric Salt Lake and Park City, Utah; and the surreal and achingly beautiful ‘Wild West’ of Southern Arizona. During Covid-19, I repatriated to my hometown of Perth, Western Australia, compiling residential listings for Realmark Urban – a prominent realtor with listings spanning WA’s vast metropolitan area and beyond.

As Editor, Coring Magazine, I upheld style, contextual relevance and quality assurance to a respected triannual mineral exploration publication. Available in digital and print format, Coring sources trusted commentary as to the innovative developments at the world’s most unique diamond drilling and mineral exploration projects.

I was the key messenger as Vice President, Communications and Talent at Dig Solutions, weaving vital directives and content such as health and safety and innovation campaigns into communications on behalf of major and junior miners and contractors.

A Television and Radio Broadcasting graduate of Western Australia’s esteemed Edith Cowan University’s WA Academy of Performing Arts, I possess extensive writing and editing experience, producing captivating content for maximum enjoyment to my clients and their valued customers – realtors, major and junior exploration companies, lifestyle companies and publications.

Let’s collaborate!

  • Realmark Urban (2021 - 2022 ) Creative Senior Content Writer

It is argued anyone can sell real estate in a \'hot\' market, and especially when demand exceeds supply. Some claim the same about writing property listings, yet many descriptions lack accuracy and personality to pique interest and influence precious time in the all-consuming home hunt. As creative content writer within a fast-paced real estate agency, I apply my unique style while upholding Realmark Urban\'s specific and succinct branding - highlighting selling features, which can prove challenging with \'rough diamonds\'. Writing nous combined with a love of architectural and interior design ensures consistent delivery of original, engaging copy. I am particularly adept at recognising a property\'s key attributes without extending the truth while adhering to marketing/publishing deadlines. Realmark Urban is a respected, award-winning Western Australian-owned real estate agency. Featuring both residential and commercial listings, Realmark Urban is deemed an industry leader in marketing excellence.

  • Sonoma Realty Group (2017 - 2022 ) Freelance Senior Copywriter

Sonoma Realty Group offers real estate brokerage services for luxury homes, particularly elegant vineyard estates across California\'s popular and enviable Sonoma, Napa and Marin counties. One could argue it cannot be *that* difficult to promote and even sell lavish homes boasting jaw-dropping vistas and comforts aplenty. Quite the contrary. Consider just how many stunning multi-million dollar listings are available within California itself – all vying for a select group’s attention. My love of writing, architecture, design and the Californian landscape and lifestyle has deemed it seemingly effortless on my part to showcase the many spectacular and diverse properties while conveying the region’s outstanding offerings. It is my genuine pleasure to play a small yet pivotal role in each property’s sale.

  • The Muve Group (2016 - 2022 ) Freelance Senior Copywriter & Former Editor In Chief

The Muve Group (TMG) is more than a troupe of house flipping realtors. Family-operated and community focused, TMG do business with like-minded folk – enthusiasts and purveyors of minimalist architecture and style, (predominantly Mid-Century modern) within Salt Lake City and the broader Utahn state. Since repatriating to my homeland of Australia, I still compile occasional Utah listings for the Group. As Editor in Chief, I applied a clear yet engaging conversational tone to Muve Group’s unique property listings and project updates, shared via the website and social media, utilising WordPress, YouTube, Facebook and Instagram.

  • D3CADE HOMES (2018 - 2021 ) Freelance Senior Copywriter & Former Editor in Chief

Dynamic duo, Cody and Vanessa are as smitten with Mid-Century design as they are with each other. Partners in business and life, the pair formed a formidable alliance with a shared appreciation for striking architectural design and elegant aesthetics, imparting panache into every housing project. As D3CADE’s Editor in Chief, I composed compelling content with a distinctive style to mirror D3CADE’s niche undertakings via social media and their website.

Promoting safe, innovative & efficient operations with ‘zero harm’ to people & the environment via best-in-class standards. In conjunction with Dig Solution’s CEO, I’m passionate about workplace inclusivity, equality, safety & training that extends beyond the norm to include mental health & wellbeing.
