Job Description

PROGRAM MANAGER, MIT-INDIA/SOUTH ASIA, Center for International Studies-MIT International Science and Technology Initiatives (MISTI), to be responsible for the management and overall development of the India program. The program creates experiential learning and research opportunities in India for MIT students and faculty and develops partnerships connecting MIT and India.  The program manager will implement and oversee all aspects of MIT International Science and Technology Initiatives’ (MISTI) student internships and other experiential learning opportunities in India, including advertising, recruiting and matching students with opportunities, and preparing students through training on culture and workplace norms; cultivate relationships with potential host organizations in India, identify new and develop relationships with prospective funding sources (corporate, individual, government, foundation) and organize activities to steward current donors; administer faculty seed fund grant programs to promote research collaborations; and collaborate with other units on campus, serve as a resource on India/South Asia for the MIT community, and promote the program as a hub of India/South Asia-related activity on campus through outreach and events.  

Job Requirements

REQUIRED: bachelor’s degree; at least three years’ relevant professional experience; excellent cross-cultural communication and interpersonal skills; solid knowledge of India’s corporate, higher education, and research systems; ability to grasp and communicate a broad picture of the program to students, faculty, and potential partners/sponsors; ability to work as part of a larger team, prioritize tasks, schedule and account for complex intern travel arrangements, schedule meetings, and manage multiple tasks under pressure; skill using Microsoft Office and willingness to learn database and web editing software; and discretion and judgment with confidential information/issues.

PREFERRED:  master’s degree, demonstrated interest in international education and/or intercultural communication preferred. 

Pay grade 8 – starting salary commensurate with experience, between $75,000 and $80,000 annually.

Must be willing to work evenings periodically and travel to India several times per year.

U.S. citizenship or permanent residency is required.
