About Me

I became a nurse because I am passionate about helping people, and I soon found that my calm, flexible personality suits the unpredictable nature of the industry.

In one of my previous roles, I spent four years assisting world-class neurosurgeons, orthopaedic surgeons, obstetricians and plastic surgeons in the operating theaters of the Prince of Wales Private hospital, in Sydney, Australia. Since moving to San Francisco, I have worked at Saint Francis Memorial Hospital which was a fantastic introduction the U.S. medical system for two years. I am now currently working at UCSF Medical Center, working with world class Orthopaedic and Neurosurgeons specializing in spine surgery.

When I’m not working you will find me at the beach, running up a hill, or lost in a good book.

Education

  • Master of Clinical Nursing, Perioperative/Operating Room and Surgical Nurse/Nursing, Nursing Leadership and Management (2012 - 2014) University of Tasmania

  • Bachelor of Nursing, Registered Nursing/Registered Nurse (2007 - 2009) Western Sydney University

    Grade: Honours

Work & Experience

  • UCSF Medical Center (2017 - Present ) O.R. Nurse

  • Dignity Health (2015 - 2017 ) OR Scrub/Circulating Nurse

  • Healthscope (2010 - 2014 ) Clinical Nurse Specialist

This was a challenging four years, which I enjoyed immensely. My role required that I manage staff, liaise with the surgeons and surgical company representatives (in particular, those who would be joining us in the operating theater), monitor and re-order stock, manage stock take, and mentor our student nurses. Most of all, I enjoyed the constantly changing demands of the job, and the opportunity to learn something new every week. While working full time, I also studied for and completed my Masters Degree, through the University of Tasmania.
